^{Umatalu is 24.98m overall, with a beam of 5.92m and draws 3.55m, constructed of aluminium she has a displacement of 60 tons. A total sail area of 362 sq m gives her a cruising speed of 10 knots, or under power at 8 knots a range of around 2000 miles from the 325hp Detroit diesel, rebuilt in 2008.
In 2008 the mast and rigging were renewed with a Sparcraft mast and stainless steel rigging to fly the 500sq m spinnaker. The winches in the aft cockpit for halyards and sheets are powered.
